Bible Reading Plan

For the last few years our church has presented a year long Bible reading plan.  The plan is designed to get you reading through the entire Bible in a year.  Each year the plan format changes.  This year we are starting with the New Testament, Psalms and Proverbs.  I haven’t always been able to keep up with the reading plans but I am committed to it this year (wait, I think I said that before).  Okay, I’m committed to trying harder this year.  But, my wife and I are also committed to getting our 3 children involved, too.  Our church has created a app that is available on iOS or Android and you can follow the plan each day.  It will also read the daily plan to you.  We have found this is a great way to have the whole family be a part.  My eldest and I listened today in the car on the way to school.  I don’t know how much he paid attention but I figure if he is hearing Gods word just before school, I can’t go wrong! My wife has been listening with the younger two kids in the evenings before I get home from work.  If you’re interested in participating in a plan like this, you can follow along on our church website here:

Cold Weather

It is cold today in Tennessee.  That is all.  Just cold.  I mean, it’s REALLY cold but no snow, no sleet, no inclement weather at all.  In fact, the sun is shining beautifully.  Schools are either closed or 2 hours late.  For the cold.  Tennessee.

Canoe Trip

Spent this past weekend on the Harpeth River on a family/friends canoe paddle trip.  Did 8 1/2 miles.  Got our canoe rental from Foggy Bottom Outfitters.  If you have never paddled the Harpeth I highly recommend it.  Not very difficult, great scenery and lots of points to stop and rest, eat and swim.  Total cost of the canoe rental was $42.  Pretty cheap family entertainment.  The trip lasted about 5 hours after several stops to eat and play around.  Can’t go to the movies for that price and can’t have nearly as much fun either!
